Tailoring
It was premature to call the suit dead. In the past two seasons, the fashion shows have been filled with tailoring. From the double-breasted jackets of Louis Vuitton, to Dior’s wraparound suits, they can be worn over the weekend, with trainers or sometimes even a string vest!
Double-Breasted and Coloured Suits
It’s great to see streetwear challenged, but also remember the days when menswear was a thing of the past. The fun of suits is lost when they become too peacocky. The key to this season is finding the right balance between uninspired, yet ostentatious. It’s not time to bring out your two-button navy suit, unless it will be worn with a floral Cuban-collar shirt, and large-sized sneakers. Think boxy and double-breasted, in a less-spotted (but still not blindingly bright) colour. Rave Wear
It was a given that designers would revisit rave culture once the Nineties revival took off. Neon was once an accent but this season it became a mainstay. Brands like MSGM Versace, and Acne, which did Stabilo suits to check off two trends, all got their neon on.
Neon Colours
Neon isn’t a colour you should use all over unless you are working on the runway, whether it be in Milan or Heathrow. It clashes. This is the first thing that people notice – often the only thing. It can be used to lift a dull look if it is done sparingly. It’s easy to match a neon panel, for example, on trainers, or an accessory with dark jeans. If you want to be more daring, pair a neon knit or T-shirt with denim. Stick to one colour only. Avoid wearing it in conjunction with bright colours unless you like having a migraine.
